The Vortex
It was on 25th November 1924 that The Vortex received its first performance at the small Everyman Theatre in Hampstead. It caused a sensation and overnight established the 25 year old Noel Coward as an international star.
Last seen in the West End in 1952, with Dirk Bogarde as the highly strung Nicky Lancaster and on BBC in 1965 with Margaret Leighton as Nicky's ageing mother, The Vortex is one of Coward's lesser known plays but its dramatic themes are still very relevant and prevalent today.
