Under Milk Wood & Womberang
Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas
This 'play for voices' is an evocation of a Welsh town-that-never-was from midnight to midnight. First broadcast by the BBC two months after the poet's death, it has gone on to establish itself as a modern masterwork - gloriously funny, richly poetic, with a deep, dark undertow.
Womberang by Sue Townsend
Womberang has a lot in common with Sue Townsend's other creation, Adrian Mole. The characters in both are beautifully drawn and extremely funny. Despite its great humour this is a comedy with a hard edge and it has a lot to say about Britain in the eighties.
