The Duchess of Malfi
The Duchess of Malfi's relationship with her steward Antonio draws violent reaction from her brothers, Ferdinand and the Cardinal, stirred up by the malcontent Bosola. From this basic plot, Webster created the most exciting of Jacobean 'revenge' plays. This nightmare horrors he portrayed has made this a fascinating theatrical experience ever since its first production in 1614.
