The Beauty Queen of Leenane

Maureen, a plain 40 year old spinster, lives in a remote part of Galway with her self-pitying and selfish 70 year old mother, Mag.  Escape comes in the form of Pato, a handsome 40 year old, who hopes to take Maureen off to Boston with him.  But Mag interferes once too often....  It is a measure of McDonagh's writing that the play never loses its charm and humour.
