Side by Side by Sondheim

Directed by Robin Legard

Side by Side by Sondheim is a revue-style compilation of classic numbers from early Sondheim shows including Company, A Little Night Music and Follies.  It provides a wonderful showcase for actor/singers with an ability to interpret lyrics and 'put a song across'.

Those interested in finding out more about the show with a view to possibly auditioning for it are welcome to come along to the Open Workshop on Sunday 19th July and listen to some of the numbers and meet members of the production team.

The first 'reading' will be on Sunday 23rd August at which the audition numbers will be discussed (and some auditions will take place for the role of Narrator). The auditions themselves will take place on Sunday 30th August.   Both evenings will be held at Hampton Hill Theatre.

Audition pieces

Each candidate will be asked to select 2 pieces to perform at the audition.  Ideally these should be contrasting in character and chosen to reflect the individual’s vocal and dramatic range

Female performers should choose TWO songs:  either one from each section (A & B) or two from section B:

A: Send In The Clowns

    Broadway Baby

    Losing My Mind

B: I’m Still Here

    The Boy From…

    I Never Do Anything Twice

We're Gonna Be All Right (Duet)

Male performers should choose TWO songs:  either one from each section (C & D) or two from section D:

C: I Remember

    Marry Me a Little

    Anyone Can Whistle

D: Buddy’s Blues

     Could I leave you?

We’re Gonna Be All Right (Duet)

The music is available to download, so if you would like to audition, please contact me (via the Contacts page of this website) and I will send you a link.
