Muswell Hill by Torben Betts

Director:  Susan Conte

Rehearsals will start from the end of November to allow for the Christmas break.

Minimal availability for some parts could be Jan 1st but preferably earlier.

This play was a great hit at the Orange Tree Theatre in 2012 and much praised by Alan Ayckbourn who, perhaps, inspired its black comedic look at human foibles - namely those of young metropolitan Londoners.

Reboot & re-connect. A black comedy about young Londoners looking for answers.

Young, good-looking, professional and plugged into all the latest technology – what could possibly go wrong for today’s generation?  Maybe relationships?  Or their Facebook friends?  Or their mortgages?  Will they make any lasting impression on history or even notice two million homeless in Haiti?  And what is 60 year old Tony doing at this dinner party?

Outspoken, artistic North London liberals meet their match in this dark comedy with 'something to say' by successful playwright Torben Betts.

Characters are all wonderful roles, complex and surprising:

Mat about 35, good looking aspiring writer and ex male model, believes his first great novel has been written but rejected by publishers.

Jess about 35, attractively chic executive, a city accountant, funds her relationship with Mat.

Karen about 35, neurotic talker with a heart of gold - well maybe.

Simon about 35, extremely intense and unrelaxed in social situations, completely blows it in final melt down.

Annie about 20, very attractive but essentially neurotic wannabe actress, child-like. Younger sister to Jess.

Tony about 60, drama school director who finds himself engaged to Annie whilst still married and offers a different perspective though still lacking in self-awareness.

I look forward to seeing you for the read-through of this dry London comedy on October 25th.
